What is a hard chrome rod?
A hard chrome rod is a precision-ground steel rod, commonly EN8, CK45 or 42CrMo4, electroplated with a layer of hard chromium. The coating gives high surface hardness, wear resistance and corrosion protection, which is why it is the standard piston rod in hydraulic and pneumatic cylinders.
What types of hard chrome rod does Kamal Hydrotech supply?

What is the difference between a chrome plated rod and an induction hardened chrome plated rod?
Both have a hard chrome layer on the surface. An induction hardened chrome plated rod is first induction hardened, so the base steel below the chrome is also hard. This resists dents and surface damage, making it better for heavy-duty and high-impact applications.
Can hard chrome rods be cut to size?
Yes. Hard chrome rods are available in standard single-piece lengths of 3 meter and 6 meter, or cut and machined to the length and drawing you need.
